We are so lucky to catch these two before they hit the road!
Lou and Jim Connell will perform for SJARMS on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 7 pm at our October member meeting at the Medford Memorial Community Center, 21 South Main Street, Medford, NJ. They will play one set and, as usual, we will have time for refreshments then set up multiple rooms to have small acoustic jams until about 9:30 pm.
The meeting is no charge if you are an SJARMS member and $10 if you are a visitor. See the Membership tab above for more information on membership.
So come out and hear some fantastic music- it will be a fun night!
Bio for Lou and Jim Connell:
Music brought them together, and it’s what makes them happiest. They met at Albert Hall, thanks to Jackie Truster-Sperl, and have been together ever since; in November, they’ll celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary. Jim is from the mountains of North Carolina, where he grew up singing gospel harmony with his five sisters, in a musical family. Gospel is still his favorite genre, although his guitar style is heavily influenced by Merle Travis and Chet Atkins. Lou was born in northwest Maryland, and has been singing religious and “hillbilly” music all her life. Together, they travel the country from Cracker Barrel to Cracker Barrel, hitting about 8 bluegrass festivals each year, and finding local jams wherever they stop. They are one of the luckiest couples alive, and feel a little guilty about being able to go wherever they like and do the thing they love best.
